Cryptocurrency analytics firm ‘CipherTrace’ has just launched a program called ‘Defenders League’. This program will be able to provide students with the tools they need to investigate cryptocurrency-related scams. The goal with this program is to make cryptocurrency much safer for users and investors alike.
According to CipherTrace, an estimated $4 billion has been lost in cryptocurrency-related fraud and scams in 2019. I think we can all agree that this is certainly enough money worth investigating. CipherTrace will train their students (for free I might add) to use their financial investigative software which is able to spot money laundering, approve managerial supervision etc.
What is CipherTrace only teaches students the major cryptocurrencies? Fear not. The software they will be using supports over 800 coins. You’d be hard-pressed to find a coin that isn’t on that list. These students will be practicing on cryptocurrency losses that are generally too small for law enforcement to pursue.
They plan to train and provide software licenses to numerous institutions & universities. Quite possibly even the UN.
What do you think of this plan?
