A group of hackers, believed to operate out of North Korea is using new and innovative ways to steal cryptocurrency. They have been doing this for some time now, however, remain successful in their mission due to new and improved hacking methods.
They have ultimately tweaked the way they infect a computer system and steal cryptocurrency, completely undetected. In order to remain undetected, Lazarus is apparently using memory-operated systems as opposed to hard-disk drives.
They have even gone as far as to create fake cryptocurrency in order to lure in victims and essentially steal their money, crypto or not. One victim even claims that the malware infected her computer via Telegram messenger. Once the computer is infected once, the hackers can continuously gain remote access to the device and continue to violate the user time and time again.
Numerous fake cryptocurrency websites have been detected. The scary thing is, after careful research, the templates were free fro the web and overall, not too hard to build. Many of these fake websites have an active link to a Telegram group. The victims of these attacks have been found in UK, China, Russia and Poland so far.
Crypto users please be diligent when searching for a new cryptocurrency to invest in. When in doubt, trust reputable brands along with reputable websites.
